It is worth mentioning, however, that in most cases you will need to visit the local office in person at least once during the claims process.

Necessary Documentation

In order to have the best chance to get approved for SSDI, make sure that you have the proper documentation ready to provide. This should include your social security number, your birth certificate, any military discharge papers you have and your most recent tax return showing W-2 or self-employment income.

You will also want documentation of the injury or illness you have suffered. The more detail you can have available, the better off you’ll be. This can include any workers’ compensation paperwork, medical bills and records of doctor’s visits, treatment or rehab procedures.
